The story of Yakuza 6: Song of Life Torrent begins immediately after the fifth installment in the series. Kazuma Kiryu is severely injured after a fight and is hospitalized. Later, the police and security forces enter the hospital to arrest Kazuma for the crimes he committed. The Dragon of Dogema has no choice but to continue his escape or accept three years in prison and live a happy life with Harako, his adopted daughter.
Troubles begin when the news and rumors surrounding Harako upset her friends at the orphanage she and Kazuma founded. Three years later, Kazuma is released from prison and discovers that Harako has disappeared and that she has a child named Harato.
