Players take control of either human or orcish troops engaged in territorial combat in The Scouring. In order to fight, players must build troops, control supplies, and create structures. In order to oppose hostile forces, combatants employ both magic and projectile weaponry, such as cannons. The competition between the main factions is given a survival component by a special gameplay loop that tests players' ability to defend fortifications against waves of undead that emerge at night. Players can assume direct control of a single hero in The Scouring's alternate mode. In addition to gaining experience, this character can explore dungeons and find unique items that improve their fighting skills. The artificial intelligence handles building structures and gathering materials while the player employs the protagonist's powers. With choices for both team fights and free-for-all situations, the game facilitates eight-player multiplayer matches. Integration with the Steam Workshop expands the material beyond the standard possibilities. Players can make and exchange unique match types, maps, and AI scripts on this platform. With these resources at their disposal, players can constantly add new obstacles and gameplay variations to their games.
